Instrumental Music Retreat
Saturday, August 9th is the Instrumental Music Retreat. Please be at the FAC at 8:00 a.m., and bring a change of clothes. We will return at around 9:15 p.m. If you have not submitted your permission slip yet, make sure to bring it that morning. If you have any questions, please call Mr. Willemssen at 630-562-7509.

Attention Chemistry Students: New Flexible Schedule Opportunity
We are excited to announce that Wheaton Academy is considering offering a section of Chemistry that will meet during a new “9th hour.”

                                    Time:    3:15-4:15 pm
                                    Days:    Monday through Thursday

Students enrolling in this new section would have the option of arriving at school after 1st hour on school days rather than at 8:00am or could open a class period for a Study Hall or additional course if desired.

If you would be interested in the possibility of enrolling in a 9th hour Chemistry class, please contact Student Services as soon as possible, but no later than Monday, August 11.  If we have enough interest, we will pursue adding this to our Master Schedule.

In considering this change to your schedule, be sure to take into account your participation in sports and co-curricular activities as this course will conflict with practice expectations, etc.

Please respond to cansberry@wheatonacademy.org or 630-562-7569 no later than August 11.

IHSA Rules Regarding Physicals
In order to begin practice, a valid IHSA physical must be completed and turned in to the Athletic Office prior to Wednesday August 13.  IHSA requires athletes have on file a certificate of physical fitness issued by a licensed physician in order to practice or participate in any sport.  If you do not know when your athlete’s physical expires, please contact your doctor. Download the sports physical form or pick one up at the front office. Incoming freshman do NOT have to get an IHSA physical - the mandatory Illinois 9th grade school physical is sufficient.  STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE OR TRY OUT WITHOUT A CURRENT SPORTS PHYSICAL.  Student’s physical examinations are valid for one (1) year from the date of the exam.

Fond Farewells
This summer, Wheaton Academy will say goodbye to four Living Curriculum educators.

Rachel Brooke, Admissions Assistant, will be teaching art classes at Wheaton Christian Grammar School in the fall.

Markus Berger, Math Teacher and Assistant Football Coach, has taken a teaching position at Katy High School in Texas. He will be taking a year off from coaching football but looks forward to coaching at Katy HS in the future. Katy has one of the top four football programs in the state of Texas.

Dave Pacheco, Communications Coordinator, has taken the position of Director of Youth Ministries at the Delaware Grace Brethren Church in Delaware, Ohio.

Kathy Burns, Administrative Assistant to the Principal, will be moving to a familiar role at a new school. She will be the Principal’s Secretary at Glenbard East High School in Lombard.

We thank these four for their service to the students and families of Wheaton Academy and wish them well in their new ventures.
